The Art Gallery of New South Wales celebrates NAIDOC (National Aboriginal Islander Day Observance Celebrations) and the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Yiribana Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Gallery At the Art Gallery of New South Wales Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm Admission to the Yiribana Gallery is free of charge. The current exhibition is paintings from the Gallery's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection, including recent acquisitions.

Living Culture This cultural performance featuring storytelling, music and dance continues throughout the year From Tuesday to Saturday at 12noon in the Yiribana Gallery Admission free of charge

Saturday 7 July Special performances 12noon and 2pm Domain Theatre, Art Gallery of New South Wales Admission free of charge Girragundji Featuring Aboriginal author and performer, Boori (Monty) Pryer, with excerpts from his award winning book, My Girragundji. Discover what happens when the little frog hops into Boori's life. With my little frog, nothing can hurt me.

Free Films Wednesday 11 July and Sunday 15 July 2.30pm Domain Theatre, Art Gallery of New South Wales Bush Mechanics 1998, video 28min. A comical look at the way 'bush' Aboriginal people have adopted the car and created a unique craft of bush mechanics. A larger than life tale of outback ingenuity. plus Sacred Journey 1996, 57min. The film follows Dr Christopher Anderson, anthropologist and Director of the South Australian Museum, as he journeys north to plan the return of Aboriginal secrets/sacred objects to their original communities.
