Welcome
to Taylor Galleries on the Web
Max Taylor A.M.
The gallery will be closed over Christmas and will reopen with an
exhibition in February 2004.
History
Taylor Galleries
opened in early 2003 to considerable local
interest. In a few short months, under the cultured and urbane guidance of
director, Max Taylor, Taylor Galleries has rapidly established a reputation as a
must see art space in Sydney's inner-west.
Prior to opening his
own gallery space, Max had a long and
distinguished career as Director of the Delmar Gallery (attached to
Trinity Grammar School) and has received an Order of Australia for his services
to the arts.
Over the years he has
featured works by many noted and established Australian artists including Lloyd
Rees, James Gleeson and Louis James. He continues to feature many established
and emerging artists and regularly shows works by such artists as Judy Cassab,
John Caldwell, Earle Backen, Jane Bennett, Shay Docking, Jean Isherwood,
Peter Laverty and Patrick Shirvington. Max continues to foster new and exciting
artistic talent and several young artists now feature in the collections of
the gallery's growing circle of patrons.
Exhibitions held thus far
have included the first one-man showing of intriguing still life studies by exciting
young artist, Anthony Springford and an exhibition of industrial landscapes and
nudes by award-winning artist, Jane Bennett. Both exhibitions were hugely
popular.
Where to Find Taylor Galleries
Located in the
heart of of vibrant and cosmopolitan Summer Hill, Taylor Galleries is an example
of the changing face of Sydney's inner-west. Several exciting and popular cafes
and restaurants are within easy walking distance of the gallery and parking is
rarely a problem (unlike some other popular gallery areas in Sydney).
